Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Whitsunday Christian College. The Whitsundays is the Heart of the Great Barrier Reef. Whitsunday Christian College is the Christian Heart of Education.

Few decisions in life are as important as selecting the right school for your children. Choosing a school that is warm, caring, has high standards of conduct, excellent academics and develops character, is one of the most important decisions families can make for their children.  That decision is crucial as up to 13 years will be spent with teachers who will spend over 30 hours a week with your child teaching, guiding and modelling Christian values and character.  13 years of schooling equates to over 16 thousand hours of school time. This time is substantial and includes academic learning, social interactions, and mentoring from teachers. The influence from teachers and peers at school is paramount in a child's development. At Whitsunday Christian College we highly value the academic development of each child, and equally their social development, character and spiritual formation. The well-being of each child is as important, if not more important than academics.  Not only will your child be part of our school, but your family will be part of our school community. At Whitsunday Christian College we aim to partner with parents in the education of your child encouraging expectations between home and school that are consistent. We have firm discipline in a caring and nurturing environment.

At Whitsunday Christian College we recognise differences in children and gifts and seek to recognise and develop each child's gift/s. Some children excel in academics, others in Art, Music, Sport, whilst others with computers, tools or academics. We seek to bring out the best in everyone. We believe God has a special plan and purpose for every child and that each one can achieve success. We aim to offer students a wide range of learning experiences that allow them to discover and develop their unique gifts and talents and, therefore, reach their fullest potential. We strive to see every student be all they can be.

Whitsunday Christian College seeks excellence in pedagogy and our new pedagogical framework exemplifies our commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. All teachers are qualified and the gains in NAPLAN, reflecting improvements in students' achievements is testament to our college providing excellent opportunity for students to improve and develop via our dedicated and caring staff.

Situated in the heart of the Whitsundays, we are only a 5 - 15 minute bus service from Jubilee Pocket, Cannonvale and surrounding areas. We are one campus, supporting a family community and the only High School in the town of Airlie Beach. Our prep classes are unique in providing a dedicated learning hub just for preps, including the prep classrooms, prep playground, prep bubblers and prep toilets. The extra care and strong nurturing environment sets us apart.

As you look through this website and speak with us, I trust you will discover the difference at Whitsunday Christian College, a Prep – Year 12 school that provides quality learning experiences within a safe and caring Christian environment. We are big enough to provide great opportunities, yet small enough to provide personal care and attention.

At Whitsunday Christian College, we aim to be a learning community where every student can flourish. We seek to educate the whole person.  That is, we focus on the head, the hands and the heart.  In this way, we encourage students to have strong minds, develop practical skills and cultivate wholesome values. I am proud of our staff and students at Whitsunday Christian College and invite you to come for a personal tour to see the positive difference at our College.
